Kyocera Wireless Corp. Signs Data Solutions Provider AIRDESK as First Supplier of Kyocera 200 M2M Module

Kyocera 200 Module Available Immediately From AIRDESK

SAN DIEGO, CA and PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 28, 2003 - Kyocera Wireless Corp, a leading manufacturer of CDMA wireless devices, and AIRDESK Inc., the leading provider of best-of-breed wireless data solutions and services, today announced that the new Kyocera 200 Module is available for order from AIRDESK in small and large quantities. Having recently completed the strict certification process at Verizon Wireless, the Kyocera 200 is the only wireless module to incorporate both trimode CDMA2000 1XRTT high-speed voice/data and assisted-GPS (A-GPS) position location technologies. Within the wireless industry, AIRDESK is a recognized expert and resource for data solutions and services, with a focus on the M2M and telemetry markets.

The Kyocera 200 Module is designed to enable M2M and telemetry applications. The module has advanced features like CDMA trimode capability (including AMPS), A-GPS position location capability and support for IS-2000 data rates (up to 153.6 Kbps on both the forward and reverse links). It is well suited to a wide range of applications, including telemetry, SCADA, asset tracking, remote metering or security, wireless vending, vehicle location and exception reporting, wireless point-of-sale terminals, healthcare/remote patient monitoring, and remote traffic management, to name a few.

"Kyocera's M2M modules represent a tremendous business opportunity, with worldwide M2M market projections of $28 billion annually by 2007," said Dean Fledderjohn, general manager of the M2M business group at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "The Kyocera 200 Module is being selected by industry leaders because no one can match our depth of experience in CDMA and customers can feel comfortable working with our proven technology."

"M2M wireless telemetry is a new and growing field with the potential to revolutionize a wide range of industries," said Michael Lang, president and CEO, AIRDESK. "Established companies like Kyocera Wireless and Verizon Wireless are helping to deliver on the potential this technology provides, and we're excited to be a part of the solution."

M2M telemetry has the ability to provide real benefits across a variety of industries. For example, M2M telemetry can help a company cost effectively track its fleet service drivers to monitor mileage, determine their location and point of delivery. Or, it can enable a vending machine to automatically notify its supplier when it's low on a certain product. Mobile-enabled applications can also affect agriculture by communicating soil, temperature and humidity data to a central monitoring unit to provide early notice of a frost to help save a harvest.

The modules also are well suited for mobile computing products including PDAs, laptop and handheld computers, and other consumer electronic devices. Other features and functions of the Kyocera 200 Module include two-way Short Messaging Service (SMS) capabilities; simple and mobile IP; AT command interface; dual UARTs; analog audio; two RF connectors; high-speed packet- and circuit-switched data; and support for both 13k QCELP and EVRC vocoders. The developer's kit and programming tools to support integration of wireless capability into OEM products and systems are available for purchase by module customers.
